Olivier Petiteau

Artothèque de Vitré

from September 28 to December 7, 2024

35 kilometers from Rennes, the artothèque de Vitré Communauté welcomes Olivier Petiteau and his insitu work entitled Particules fines, tour de France et fuite des cerveaux, on view until December 7, 2024.

This work combines statistical and geographical data. Olivier Petiteau exploits the panoramic form of the picture rail to create a confusion between data and landscape. The building materials used to embody these figures create the illusion of representation, building an ephemeral horizon.

This impressive insitu piece measures 6.5 m in width and was created using wood, plasterboard and chalk powder.

ABOUT THE ARTOTHÈQUE DE VITRE COMMUNAUTE

The artothèque de Vitré Communauté is a venue for the dissemination of contemporary art. In a collaborative dynamic and often in partnership with other institutions, it contributes to the production of exhibitions, artist residencies, editions of multiples and works such as monographs and artists' books.

Since 2024, with the development of new dedicated spaces, the artothèque has strengthened its support for contemporary creation by inviting artists to create works in situ. These artists take over the loan space, where one or two large picture rails are made available to them to create, as if in their own studio, while interacting with the public who visit the premises.

The artothèque stands out for its commitment to supporting creative work in perpetual evolution, where the ephemeral becomes a driving force for pushing back artistic frontiers and constantly renewing exchanges with the public.
