ENTER THE ART MOVEMENT !
Enter the art movement! Since 1977, the Centre Pompidou's ambition has been to bring together all the ways of encountering creation, understanding it, and taking part in it. The Centre Pompidou dreams of a monument in motion: a "moviment", in the words of the poet Francis Ponge*. Moviment invites the public to experience a concentrate of the Centre Pompidou's utopia: the visual arts mingle with cinema, performance, music, speech... In the same space in constant metamorphosis, works from the collection, meetings, screenings, workshops, shows and performances come and go.
At the rhythm of ten weeks conceived as so many chapters, Moviment shakes up the traditional representations of art. In the heart of Gallery 3, the works make striking appearances in an ephemeral display punctuated by recent acquisitions, and works rarely shown to the public exposed in a new light. Conversely, performances and encounters summon the long time of memory and history, and draw the horizon of a desirable future.
* "In the heart of Paris, a heart: a muscle, a pump that sucks in and out, with uninterrupted beats, animating without rest, regularly, less regularly at times, in moments of emotion and fever, a body in the shape of a hexagon [...]: this is what the Beaubourg building should be, would be, will be, already is. Less a monument, then, than, if we must invent this word: a movement".
