Véra Molnar, Unterbrechungen Lücken

Düren - Germany

JULY 2 TO NOVEMBER 6, 2022

Vera Molnar is not only one of the first artists to use large computers for her artwork, in the 1960s. Instead, based on a modernist vocabulary, she developed abstract painting forms that are characterized by a play with chance, with deviations and interruptions in geometric ordering systems.

Her exhibition at the Leopold Hoesch Museum in Düren focuses on individual groups of works and motifs: her early constructivist gouaches, the structures of squares and rectangles, the "U" series, the "Interruptions", works that deal with writing, such as "Homage to Dürer" or "Letters from my mother". She works on these motifs for decades with various questions and media. "Vera Molnar. Interruptions - Gaps" reflects this colorful cosmos of the artist through the early gouaches, in which she already works randomly with color and shape variations using cubes, collages of colored sheets, paintings, computer prints, shimmering screen images, a wire installation and a new light installation in a black light room.
