Olivier Petiteau, Inadequat
St-Florent-le-Vieil 16 SEPTEMBER - 05 NOVEMBER 2023 The "Inadéquat" exhibition presents a deliberately motley collection of mixed-media works and installations produced at different stages in Olivier Petiteau's career. Through his works, the artist depicts the world around us, drawing on our environment made up mainly of codes where everything has a function and everything is linked to marketing and communication. Through exaggeration, distortion and misappropriation, he creates a kind of ironic staging of this numerical mirage. Read more -

Musée Manoli (35) 14 june - 18 sept. 2023 Nikolas Fouré at Musée Manoli 2023 | In the continuity of its year dedicated to the sky, the MANOLI Museum invites Nikolas Fouré. His artistic practice turns as much towards sculpture as drawing or installation. Through his multiple formal researches, the artist tries to represent the relations that we weave with the world that we inhabit. By setting up simple and regular protocols (involving the repetition of gestures and motifs) he accumulates, condenses and reproduces basic elements, playing with their imaginary potential to signify portions of clouds or skies. Soo Kyoung Lee, it sounds bleu
Orangerie du Château - Sucy en Brie (94) MAY 13 - JUNE 11, 2023 Soo Kyoung Lee at the Orangerie in Sucy en Brie 2023 | The French-Korean artist Soo Kyoung Lee exhibits at the Orangerie du Château in Sucy en Brie from May 13 to June 11, 2023. For the past few years, Soo Kyoung Lee has been making cut and painted wooden works. These works follow a long phase of reflection on the medium of painting. They are in complementarity with the works on canvas: indeed, in these two mediums, the very pure forms of the lines and the colors answer each other as usually in its practice of painting where the plans and the interstices are combined with mystery. PHILIPPE COGNÉE, LE RÉEL SUBLIMÉ
Musée du Mans (72) MAY 13 - NOVEMBER 05, 2023 Philippe Cognée at the Musée de Tessé in Le Mans 2023 | Philippe Cognée is one of the major figures of the French art scene, mainly known for his encaustic paintings, which he hijacks the traditional use to dissolve the elements represented in the pictorial material with an iron. His works do not tell a story. The fruit of both desire and chance, his powerful and singular art is required by reality, of which he gives us a sublimated vision: it is this quality, through the choice of the works selected, that the exhibition will reflect. La répétition
Centre Pompidou in Metz Feb. 4, 2023 > Jan. 27, 2025 The exhibition "La Répétition" at the Centre Pompidou-Metz aims to show how, for many artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, creation is born of repetition, through multiplication, accumulation, repetition or restart. It challenges the simplistic idea that modernity would be characterized only by invention and exception. She makes visible the permanence in the heart of our time of a very old way of creating images and objects, often utilitarian or decorative, of which testifies here a Gallo-Roman stele which presents three almost identical female figures. Forming a loop without beginning or end, the exhibition, composed of works essentially from the collections of the Musée national d'art moderne - Centre Pompidou, invites visitors to wander freely through the multiple phenomena of repetition. By hosting the seventh edition of the triennial "From their time", proposed by the ADIAF, the Frac presents contemporary works that show new forms of representation, propose other ways of relating to our environment, revisit forgotten histories. Between intimate expression and public address, these works show a spirit of time crossed by doubts, visions and emotions. Read more -
