Frédéric Bouffandeau - La chute inopinée - 2021 - Oniris
Frédéric Bouffandeau organizes his work around a singular and imperfect "matrix" form. As much akin to a human cell as to a plant and floral figure, this one is alive, supple, sensual and carrying a certain form of poetry.
Sometimes full, sometimes hollowed out, or opaque, Frédéric Bouffandeau builds and deconstructs this form using paint, drawings, neon lights, aluminum sculptures... The artist moves from one medium to another both on the wall and in space. Each piece created enriches the next, combines with existing works, while keeping its elementary and singular character.
Thus the different mediums dialogue, collide, cohabit, without ever fading away. The forms and colors are perfectly autonomous and, according to the artist, do not need him to live and express themselves, because "each color has its own dynamics, its own values, its own qualities and its own meaning. Frederic Bouffandeau sees himself more as a conductor who puts them in agreement in order to create 'a place of absorption and an atmosphere'.
This second exhibition at the Oniris gallery entitled "The unexpected fall (La chute inopinée)" presents recent works in connection with his exhibition at the Matisse Museum in Cateau-Cambrésis in 2020 with his latest works on paper, canvas and neon.
