Norman Dilworth - 1 2 1 2 1 - spring 2021 - Oniris
Norman Dilworth is interested in the phenomenon of numbers. His choices have a purely abstract basis, no reference to nature, although his finished works often give reason for associations in this sense. He humorously refers to it as "the nature of things".
Norman Dilworth concentrates on simple mathematical rows, ascending or descending, inclined, angles of a precise degree etc. Yet the result is confusingly complex and mostly difficult to explain. His favorite materials are wood, stained black. Also, in his recent work, he uses for example traditional steel combined with stainless steel, and even string. The original color of the material plays an essential role in most of these new wall sculptures.
The solo exhibition "1 2 1 2 1" celebrates the 90th birthday of the English sculptor who has been exhibiting since 2004 at the Oniris gallery in Rennes and at contemporary art fairs in Paris and internationally.
