Drawing Now Art Fair is the first contemporary art fair in Europe dedicated exclusively to drawing. Founded in 2007, Oniris is taking part for the ninth time.
The 17th Drawing Now Art Fair takes place at Carreau du Temple, in the Marais district of Paris. Join us from Thursday, March 21 to Sunday, March 24, 2024 to discover a focus on Christian Bonnefoi's wall collages and drawings, accompanied by works by Philippe Cognée as well as Soo Kyoung Lee
- Christian BONNEFOI's wall collages escape the usual quadrangular frame to spread freely across the wall. Assembled from painted tissue paper, inlaid with cut-outs and colored sets, they are created for the occasion or borrowed from other works. Contemporary with the paintings, they constitute a kind of experimentation.
- Philippe COGNEE is best known for his encaustic paintings, whose highly distinctive fading, achieved with an iron, is a veritable trademark. Far from being preparatory sketches, Philippe Cognée's papers have their own style, almost a signature offered by the artist. He uses color as well as black and white, charcoal, wash, ink, watercolor and sometimes even encaustic. Despite the importance he attaches to it, because for him, "drawing is not preparatory to painting", this work on paper has been shown very little.
- Soo Kyoung LEE's works on paper echo the colorful world of his paintings. Acrylic paint, posca marker and the occasional sheet of rhodoid allow her to deploy spontaneous, lively forms in the space of the drawing.
