French painter Pierre Galopin was born in 1984.
He lives and works near Rennes
He has been exhibiting at Galerie Oniris since 2022
Right from the start of his artistic practice, Pierre Galopin turned to the medium of painting. A traditional medium that invites him to question the way we paint in the 21st century.
On canvas, he plays with chance, using layers of varnish that overlap randomly and partially. Beyond his almost anecdotal research into materials and colors, Pierre Galopin is above all interested in the tools that enable creation. Although he uses the traditional paintbrush, he doesn't hesitate to build his own tools or to divert objects, as shown by his works on paper made with a drill and a pencil.
Always abstract, Pierre Galopin's works reveal a vibrant, enigmatic surface.
